The 'do more with less' mantra is getting old

Is it just me, or has morale absolutely cratered lately? Between the constant reminders of the budget climate and the latest news about the Philly layoffs, it’s getting hard to stay focused on the actual work. We’re being asked to take on more responsibilities as people leave, but there isn't a single whisper about salary adjustments to match the workload. It feels like every quarter we’re told to 'optimize' and 'streamline' until there’s nothing left but burnt-out engineers and middle management that has no idea what’s actually happening on the floor. I’ve been with NG for a few years, but I’ve never seen the uncertainty this high. Is anyone else looking at the exit signs, or am I just overreacting to the current cycle of bad news?

It is honestly exhausting. Every time they talk about 'synergies' or 'streamlining,' it is just code for piling three people's worth of work onto one desk. I’ve seen so many talented engineers walk out the door in the last six months because the compensation just doesn't align with the expectations anymore. You can only run on caffeine and empty promises about 'long-term value' for so long before you realize you're just a line item they are trying to shrink. The company culture is rapidly shifting from innovation to just pure survival.

I hear you, and it's definitely not just you. The mood at the office has been incredibly heavy lately, especially with the turnover rate spiking. It feels like leadership is completely disconnected from the daily reality of the floor. When they cut headcount, they talk about efficiency, but they never account for the institutional knowledge that walks out the door with those people. We are all just treading water, trying to hit impossible deadlines while waiting for the next round of 'optimizations' to hit. It is becoming harder to justify the stress when the career growth is stagnating alongside our paychecks.
