Eufaula hit with 79 layoffs - what's the word?

Just saw the WARN notice for Eufaula hit the wire this morning. 79 people are getting the boot effective April 21st. Anyone on the ground there actually know what departments got hit? Management is staying tight-lipped as usual, but the chatter in the breakroom is that this isn't the last of it for the division. It feels like the 'one team' mentality we used to brag about is evaporating into thin air. I’ve been with the company for a decade and I’ve never seen morale this low. Is this just market cyclicality or are we trimming for a bigger move? If you're affected, please reach out or post updates. Stay safe everyone.

I’m sorry to hear that. Eufaula has been a core part of the operation for a long time, and seeing 79 families lose their stability is gut-wrenching. The 'one team' rhetoric always sounds great in the annual reports, but it tends to vanish the moment the quarterly numbers dip. Please don't let this toxic environment consume your mental health while you figure out your next steps. If you have any seniority or internal contacts at other plants, reach out now before the dust settles. Best of luck navigating this mess.

Same old story with Nucor lately. They’ll talk about record profits one month and then cut the local workforce the next to keep shareholders happy. It’s definitely not the same company it was ten years ago. If the breakroom chatter is saying this is just the beginning, you need to take that seriously and start dusting off your resume today. Don't wait for management to give you the real story because they never will. Look into other local industrial roles; your skills are likely transferable elsewhere.
