Nucor: Anyone else notice a shift in internal communication lately?

Hey everyone, been with Nucor for a few years now at the [Redacted Plant Location] facility. Lately, I've been feeling a weird vibe. Not sure if it's just me or if others are picking up on it too. It's subtle, but there's been a noticeable increase in 'efficiency' meetings, more emphasis on 'streamlining processes,' and frankly, a bit less transparency in higher-level project updates than usual. Normally, things are pretty open here, but it feels like there's a bit more of a tight lip these days. No official word on anything, and my direct manager is still the same, but the general atmosphere feels...different. Anyone else in different Nucor divisions or plants seeing or hearing similar things? Trying to gauge if this is a company-wide thing or just local noise. Just looking for some shared perspective, not trying to start a panic.

Yeah, I've noticed it too at my location. Seems like there's more talk about metrics and less about the actual people behind the numbers. The 'efficiency' push is constant, and while I get that we need to be competitive, it feels like the focus has shifted away from the crew's input and more towards top-down directives. Hoping it's just a phase and not a permanent change in how things are run.

Interesting you bring this up. I'm at a different facility, and while it's not dramatically different, there's definitely a bit more formality creeping in. The 'streamlining' often translates to more paperwork and less time for actual work, which is frustrating. I'm chalking it up to industry pressures, but I do miss the old days when information flowed a bit more freely without so many layers.
