I've noticed the same thing. Several positions I was tracking in the Carolinas seem to have been put on hold or quietly removed from the careers page. It's hard to say for sure if it's a broad company strategy or specific to certain divisions or regions. The steel market can be pretty cyclical, so it might just be a temporary adjustment in response to current demand or raw material costs. Hopefully, it's just a lull and not a sign of bigger issues.
My uncle works in one of their mills, and he mentioned that while they aren't announcing layoffs, there's definitely been a hiring freeze on some non-essential roles. He thinks it's more about being cautious with spending given the current economic uncertainty and fluctuating material prices. They're still maintaining production, but they're being more selective about who they bring on board. It's a smart move to preserve stability if things get tighter.
