Feeling the burnout despite the record profits

Is anyone else completely exhausted? We keep hearing about how much we’re crushing it, and the stock performance speaks for itself, but the day-to-day is becoming a marathon. Every team I talk to feels like they’re underwater, adding more projects without any real headcount relief. People keep saying we are in a 'safe' spot because the company is printing money, but the sheer volume of work feels like a form of soft-layoff—just burning out the existing staff until they quit on their own so HR doesn’t have to process a severance package. I know we aren't seeing formal cutbacks like other firms, but the 'work harder' culture is starting to feel unsustainable. I’m starting to wonder if the long-term plan is just to run us into the ground while the iron is hot. Does anyone actually think we’ll see some breathing room anytime soon, or is this just the new permanent baseline for working here?

I hear you loud and clear. It’s a strange dissonance when the financial reports scream success while the actual work environment feels like it’s held together by duct tape and caffeine. The 'printing money' narrative is great for shareholders, but it doesn't help when you’re staring at a project backlog that never shrinks. The burnout is real, and frankly, it feels like the current pace is completely unsustainable. You aren't imagining it, and you definitely aren't alone in feeling like the company is just squeezing every last drop out of us before we inevitably break.

You've hit the nail on the head. That 'soft-layoff' observation is terrifyingly accurate—why pay severance when you can just pile on impossible workloads until people walk away on their own? Everyone is terrified of missing the boat while we're on top, but the internal cost is getting harder to ignore. We’re treated like highly specialized cogs in a machine that’s being redlined 24/7. It’s hard to enjoy the stock performance when you’re too exhausted to even plan a weekend off, let alone think about the long term.
