Heard anything about upcoming severance packages?

Look, I'm not trying to start rumors, but I've been through this before at another company. You can usually tell when something's brewing. The meetings get weird, the communication gets vague, and suddenly everyone's talking about 'efficiency'. I'm in software, been here about 3 years. If something *were* to happen, does anyone know what NVIDIA's severance package typically looks like? Is it based on tenure? Any details would be helpful. Trying to be prepared, just in case the worst happens.

I haven't heard anything specific about severance, but your observations are spot on. The 'efficiency' talk is always a red flag. In my experience (not at NVIDIA), severance usually depends on tenure, sometimes with a minimum of 2 weeks per year. Check your employee handbook, if you have access. It *might* contain some clues. Also, start discreetly updating your resume and networking. It's always a good idea to be prepared, regardless of whether layoffs are imminent.

Honestly, I think you're reading too much into things. Every large company goes through periods of restructuring and optimization. NVIDIA is still incredibly profitable and investing heavily in new areas. While it's smart to be aware, I wouldn't let paranoia consume you. Focus on your work, be a valuable contributor, and try not to get caught up in the rumor mill. If layoffs *do* happen, worrying about it beforehand won't change the outcome.
