Quiet period at PACCAR - anyone else noticing the project freezes?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at the office gotten noticeably more tense lately? I’ve been hearing a lot of whispers regarding the Q3 targets and how we’re missing the mark on some of the heavy-duty production numbers. Usually, we get a bit more transparency during the all-hands, but the recent briefings have been pretty vague. I’ve noticed a lot of hiring requisitions that were active for months just suddenly disappearing from the portal. I’m not saying there’s a mass exodus or anything, but leadership seems to be playing their cards extremely close to the chest right now. Everyone I talk to in engineering is acting like they’re walking on eggshells. Has anyone heard anything concrete about budget cuts for the next fiscal year? I’d rather have a heads-up now than wait for an email on a Tuesday morning.

The hiring freeze is definitely real, and it’s hitting more departments than people realize. I saw three open requisitions in my team vanish overnight without a word from leadership. It’s impossible to ignore the shift in tone during the briefings; they’re definitely holding back information to avoid panic. At this point, it feels like they’re bracing for a very rough Q3, and keeping your head down is probably the safest play until things stabilize. Everyone is just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Honestly, the lack of transparency is the most frustrating part. We’ve all noticed the missing production targets, and the vague messaging from management is just making everyone more anxious. It’s not just the hiring portals—internal projects are being gutted left and right. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start talking about broader restructuring soon if the heavy-duty numbers don't turn around. Just keep your resume updated and stay alert, because this quiet period feels like the calm before a much bigger storm.
