Is Palantir overhyped? Feeling burned out after 3 years

I joined Palantir three years ago fresh out of college, super excited about changing the world with data. Now? I'm just burnt out and disillusioned. The hours are brutal, the pressure is insane, and honestly, I'm not even sure what impact we're really having. Feels like a lot of smoke and mirrors sometimes. My role is a Forward Deployed Engineer. Anyone else feeling like the reality of working here doesn't live up to the hype? Thinking of jumping ship before things get worse. Seriously considering a career change, maybe something less intense. Anyone made a similar move and found happiness on the other side?

I hear you. The FDE life is definitely not for everyone. It's incredibly demanding and the constant travel can be draining. Three years is a good run. Maybe it's time to leverage that Palantir experience and find something with better work-life balance. Plenty of companies would kill to have someone with your skillset. Don't feel guilty about prioritizing your own well-being.

I'm always skeptical when I hear complaints about Palantir's 'impact'. What did you expect? Curing cancer overnight? They're a data analytics company, not a charity. If you signed up for a 'changing the world' narrative instead of understanding the business, that's on you. The hours are known going in. However, if you're truly burned out, that's valid. Just manage your expectations moving forward. Every job has downsides.
