Performance reviews feel... different this cycle.

Am I the only one finding the performance review process this year to be unusually harsh or, at least, opaque? It used to feel like a constructive conversation about growth and impact. Now, it feels more like a justification exercise. The feedback is becoming incredibly granular, focusing on micro-efficiencies and very specific output metrics that seem to change without clear communication. It’s like they're building a case for something, and it’s not a promotion. I've seen a few people on other teams quietly exit, and while I don't know the specifics, this timing with the reviews is making me wonder. Anyone else feeling like the bar is being raised in a way that feels less about development and more about... selection?

Yeah, I'm feeling this too. The metrics feel like they're shifting under our feet, and it's hard to get a clear understanding of what truly drives success versus what's just a convenient number to track. The granular feedback is exhausting, and it's definitely not fostering the collaborative spirit I thought we had. Feels like a lot of pressure without a clear path forward for development. Hope this isn't the new norm.
