Parker Hannifin - Performance reviews feel...different this year.

Just finished my annual review and it felt a lot more intense than usual. My manager kept hammering on 'efficiency metrics' and 'contribution to profitability.' Normally, it's about development and goals, but this time it felt like a direct evaluation of my 'value' in a much more granular way. There was a lot of talk about needing to 'streamline operations' and 'ensure we're right-sized for the current market.' This is in addition to the budget crunch talk already going around. It's got me wondering if they're subtly building a case for something down the line. Anyone else have a similar experience with their reviews? Feeling a bit anxious about what this all means for job security.

Yeah, I've noticed a shift too. My review was definitely more focused on output and how directly my work impacts the bottom line. It felt less about personal growth opportunities and more about hitting specific targets tied to company-wide financial goals. The emphasis on 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' seems to be the company-wide mantra right now, which can be a bit unsettling when you're used to a different kind of feedback.

Interesting that you say that. Mine was similar. Less about 'what do you want to learn next?' and more about 'how did you contribute to cost savings this quarter?' It's a different vibe for sure, and honestly, it's a little concerning when the focus pivots so heavily to just pure metrics. Makes you wonder what the long-term strategy is beyond just cutting costs and maximizing immediate profit.
