Heard Whispers About Reorg - Is My Team Next?

Been at PayPal for almost 5 years now, and I've seen some ups and downs, but the atmosphere lately is different. My manager has been acting weird – super vague in meetings, canceling 1:1s last minute. Heard through the grapevine that there's another reorg coming, supposedly focused on 'efficiency' and 'streamlining'. I'm in product, and our team has been pretty heads-down building some key features, but I know that doesn't always guarantee safety. Anyone else hearing similar things? Especially nervous since they already cut a bunch of marketing roles last year.

I've been through a few reorgs at PayPal. Vague managers and canceled 1:1s are classic signs, unfortunately. Start documenting everything you've accomplished in the past year, focusing on how it aligns with company priorities. Brush up your resume and discreetly reach out to your network. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. Even if nothing happens, you'll be in a stronger position.

Honestly, take everything with a grain of salt. Rumors fly around PayPal like crazy, especially when the stock is down. 'Efficiency' is just corporate speak for 'potential layoffs,' but it doesn't always happen. Has your team been hitting its metrics? Are your features performing well? If so, you're probably fine. Don't let the gossip distract you from doing your job. Focus on what you can control.
