Rumor: Layoffs hitting the risk management department?

Heard from a usually reliable source that the risk management department might be facing some cuts. Apparently, some roles are being 're-evaluated' and there's talk of consolidation. My friend works in that department (AVP level), and she's been unusually quiet lately. Anyone else hearing anything specific about this? I'm in engineering, so it doesn't directly affect me, but it's still unsettling to see this happening within the company. Seems like they're trying to streamline operations, but at what cost?

AVP level quietly? That's never a good sign. "Re-evaluating" is corporate speak for 'your job is on the chopping block'. Unfortunately, this is a common tactic. They'll probably offer some severance package but it's always stressful and disruptive. Best of luck to your friend and everyone else potentially impacted. Start networking and polishing your resume *now*.

Take it with a grain of salt. These rumors always swirl. My team gets 'restructured' every other year. Sometimes it's real, sometimes it's just noise. Risk Management is pretty crucial to their business, so gutting the whole department seems unlikely. Consolidation? Sure, maybe some overlap. But total layoffs? I'd wait for something more concrete before panicking. People love to spread gossip.
