September cuts: India team morale is hitting rock bottom

So the news is out about the 220 people impacted today. Honestly, at this point, are we even surprised? It feels like we are playing a never-ending game of musical chairs every single quarter. I survived this round, but the vibe in the office—and even on the internal slack channels—is just absolute numbness. I’ve been with the company for over five years, and the 'new chapter' messaging from leadership is starting to sound like a broken record. How many 'new chapters' can one company write before the book is just empty? We are all exhausted from the constant pivots and the feeling that our projects might be sunsetted or outsourced before we even hit the deployment phase. To those who got the calendar invite today: I am incredibly sorry. It’s a gut punch, and the severance packages are looking thinner than they did last year. Is everyone else looking for the exit now? I’ve started updating my resume tonight because I don’t think I can handle another round of 'streamlining' in Q4 or early 2027. This isn't the company I joined, and frankly, I don't think it's coming back. Stay safe out there, everyone.

It is the same story every time they announce a 'strategic shift' or a 'new chapter.' They talk about efficiency and streamlining, but all we feel is the constant threat hanging over our heads. Five years is a long time to stay in an environment where you are constantly looking over your shoulder. At this point, the numbness isn't a lack of caring; it’s a survival mechanism to cope with the fact that we are just numbers on a spreadsheet to management. Start updating that resume now, because the musical chairs will never actually stop.
