Just saw the official WARN notice for Montgomery. It’s 169 positions being eliminated by December 31st. I’ve been in the building all morning and the atmosphere is absolutely suffocating. Managers are keeping their doors shut and avoiding eye contact in the breakroom. A few of the guys in supply chain started getting calendar invites for 'briefings' about an hour ago, and nobody is coming back to their desks. If you’re at this site, keep your head down and make sure you’ve backed up your personal files because the access usually gets cut off the second you walk out. It’s honestly brutal that they’re doing this right before the holidays. Does anyone know if they are offering any decent severance packages, or is it just the bare minimum? I’ve been here five years and feel like I’m about to be another statistic on a spreadsheet. Trying to keep it together, but it’s hard not to panic.

I am so sorry to hear this. The silence from management is always the worst part of these layoffs—it feels like they are treating people like numbers rather than human beings who built their careers there. Please take care of yourself during this process. Focus on getting your resume updated and making sure you have all your personal files secured before they cut off your network access. Reach out to your contacts now, even if you are just networking to vent. You deserve better than this sudden uncertainty right before the holidays.

Same thing happened at our plant last year. They love to drop these WARN notices right before the end of the year to clean up the balance sheets for Q4. It is a calculated move to minimize the impact on their annual reports while disrupting everyone's lives. Don't wait for those 'briefings' to start scrambling. If you have been there a while, double-check your employment contract and make sure you understand the severance package details before signing anything. Companies like this never prioritize the people, only the bottom line.
