Anyone else feeling nervous about performance reviews lately?

I'm in eng, been at Pinterest for about 3 years now. Usually performance review season is just a formality, but this year feels different. There's been a lot of talk about "efficiency" and "prioritization" in leadership meetings that have trickled down. My manager keeps emphasizing the need to "exceed expectations" which is not their usual language. Anyone else getting a similar vibe? Are they setting the stage for some cuts based on performance? Trying not to freak out, but the anxiety is real.

Totally feeling the same. I'm in product, similar tenure. The shift in language is hard to ignore. We just had a reorg and my team is smaller, but expected to do more. Focus seems to be on quantifiable outputs rather than long-term strategic value. Makes me wonder if they are looking at simple metrics to justify decisions. Good luck to everyone navigating this.

Honestly, this happens every year. Leadership wants to squeeze more out of everyone. Exceeding expectations is *always* the goal, that's why they pay us the big bucks. Don't let the corporate jargon get to you. Just document everything you've done, highlight your wins, and practice your self-assessment. Focus on what YOU control.
