So the 700 number is officially circulating. I just got my notification this morning, and it’s pretty brutal. My entire team in the infrastructure vertical is being gutted. I heard from a few folks in design that they were hit just as hard. Seems like leadership is clearing house to fund this massive push into generative features, but they’re cutting the people who actually maintain the stability of the platform to get there. I’ve been here for three years and I’m shocked at how quickly it went from 'Pinterest is a steady ship' to 'everything is being reshuffled.' They didn't give us much runway, either. Severance info should be in the inbox by the end of the day, but everyone is scrambling to save their contact lists and gather portfolios before access is killed at 5 PM. I'm sorry you're going through this. I was also impacted today, and the lack of transparency leading up to this was honestly the most frustrating part. My department was completely blindsided, and the messaging from leadership feels like a hollow attempt to justify shifting focus toward generative AI at the expense of loyal employees. It is incredibly shortsighted to gut infrastructure while trying to scale new tech. Take some time for yourself; this company clearly stopped valuing long-term talent a while ago.
