I'm sorry you're dealing with that. It's the same old corporate playbook—cut the headcount but expect the same output. I survived the last round here, and the 'do more with less' talk is just a setup for burnout. Don't fall into the trap of overextending yourself to cover for the people they laid off. Document everything you’re doing now because when the metrics inevitably slip, they’ll look for someone to blame. Take care of yourself first; these companies don't care about the people left behind.
The severance process was an absolute disaster for my team. Half the people I talked to got conflicting information, and HR acted like they were being bothered by us asking for basic clarity. It’s been total radio silence on the severance packages for days. The culture is completely gutted, and honestly, the silence in the office is deafening. If you have the energy, start updating your resume now. Being told to 'absorb' the extra work is just management’s way of saying they don’t plan on fixing the situation anytime soon.
