The vibe at the office is at an all-time low

Did anyone else notice that leadership didn’t even hold an all-hands after the announcement yesterday? We got a sanitized memo about 'reshaping the roadmap' and then absolute radio silence. It feels like we’re being managed by bots at this point. The optics of firing those engineers who built the tracker tool are honestly the worst I’ve seen in my entire career. It sends such a clear message: keep your head down, don't ask questions, and accept the shrinking headcount without a peep. I spent the morning checking LinkedIn and it feels like half my feed is just Pinterest alums posting about their open-to-work status. It’s depressing. We keep hearing about doubling down on growth, but how are we supposed to grow when morale is this subterranean? I’m starting to wonder if the 700 figure is just the tip of the iceberg and they’re planning another wave before the fiscal year ends. If you’re still inside, save your files and start polishing the resume. Don’t wait for them to decide your future for you. It’s not worth the stress anymore.

The radio silence is deafening. It’s impossible to ignore the morale drop when leadership hides behind scripted emails instead of facing the team. Cutting the engineers who built internal tools is a massive red flag—it shows they prioritize optics over actual productivity and institutional knowledge. If they can justify firing the people who keep the ship running, nobody is truly safe. This isn't just a roadmap shift; it's a complete breakdown of trust.

Honestly, the memo was a masterclass in corporate gaslighting. 'Reshaping the roadmap' is just code for 'we have no long-term vision and we're panicking.' Watching the tracker tool team get axed like that is brutal—it’s a direct attack on anyone who tries to build something useful or expose inefficiencies. It’s hard to stay motivated when you realize the company would rather protect the status quo than actually innovate. Maybe it’s time to start looking elsewhere before the next round of 'optimizations' hits.
