PNC - Is anyone else feeling the pinch on resources?

Been at PNC for a few years now and it feels like we're being asked to do more with less, but it's escalating. Not talking about outright layoffs here, but the budget for discretionary spending, training, and even some essential tools seems to be drying up. It's making day-to-day work much harder and definitely impacting morale. My manager is being cagey when asked about future headcount or resource allocation, just saying 'we're focusing on efficiency.' Sounds like corporate speak for 'don't expect any help.' Has anyone else noticed this squeeze? Are teams being consolidated or are responsibilities being absorbed without additional support? Wondering if this is a company-wide push or specific to certain divisions. Trying to understand the strategic reasons behind this, if any exist.

I've been noticing the same thing. It feels like there's a constant pressure to cut costs, and it's trickling down to the team level. Simple things like getting necessary software upgrades or attending a crucial industry conference are becoming a major hurdle. It's frustrating when you know more resources would significantly improve our output and overall job satisfaction. The 'efficiency' talk feels like a way to avoid directly addressing the resource scarcity issue.

Totally agree. The 'doing more with less' mantra is really starting to bite. It's not just about budget cuts, but also about the expectation that we should somehow magically absorb the workload that used to be handled by more people or better tools. Morale is definitely taking a hit because of it. When basic operational needs aren't met, it makes it hard to feel valued or motivated.
