PNC Bank - Anyone else feeling the pressure lately?

Hey everyone, first time posting here. I've been with PNC for a few years now in [mention general department, e.g., IT/Operations/Lending], and lately, the vibe feels... tense. It's probably just me being paranoid, but I've noticed a definite slowdown in project approvals and a lot more internal meetings focused on 'efficiency' and 'streamlining.' No official word on anything, but the whispers are starting to get louder. Is anyone else in different departments feeling this? Are there any specific areas that seem particularly scrutinized? Just trying to get a pulse on what might be happening beyond my immediate bubble. Trying to stay optimistic, but it's hard not to worry a bit, especially with the current economic climate. Anyone have any insights or seen similar patterns elsewhere in the bank?

I've been hearing similar things from friends in different areas of the bank. Seems like a lot of departments are under increased scrutiny. The 'efficiency' drive definitely feels like it's more than just lip service this time around. Lots of talk about resource optimization and focusing on core business. Hoping it doesn't translate into significant layoffs, but the uncertainty is definitely palpable. Keep an eye on internal communications, though I suspect we'll hear more through the grapevine than official channels.

Interesting that you're picking up on that too. I'm in a different division, but the buzz about tighter budgets and more rigorous project vetting is definitely present here as well. There's a sense that the bank is trying to consolidate and become more nimble. While some of that can be healthy, the current atmosphere feels a bit more like a scramble to justify every expense. Hard to say what it all means long-term, but the increased meeting frequency and focus on process improvement aren't exactly a sign of smooth sailing.
