Hoping PPG avoids the layoff train

Seeing layoffs hit so many companies lately, and honestly, it's got me on edge. I work in R&D at PPG and while we haven't had any official announcements or even rumors that I've heard directly, the economic climate is just undeniable. We've seen some projects get slowed down and budgets tightened in Q3, which could be normal, but feels a bit more significant this time around. Anyone in similar roles or departments who can share if they're seeing any signs, even subtle ones? Just trying to gauge the temperature of the situation. It's tough to stay focused when you're constantly worried about job security. Really hoping PPG navigates this period smoothly and avoids any major cuts. Would love to hear if anyone has any positive news or reassurance.

Hang in there! It's completely understandable to feel anxious given the current economic shifts. I'm not in R&D, but in supply chain, and we've definitely felt some budget pressures. Project timelines have been a bit more fluid than usual, and there's a general sense of caution. Management is being pretty tight-lipped, so it's hard to say for sure, but I'm hoping it's just a temporary adjustment rather than a precursor to anything more serious.

I hear you on the nervousness. It's tough seeing so many companies cut back. While I'm in a different division, I've noticed a similar uptick in budget scrutiny and a slight slowdown on new initiatives. It's not alarming enough for me to panic yet, but it's definitely something I'm keeping an eye on. Hopefully, PPG can navigate these choppy waters without impacting the R&D teams too much. We're all hoping for the best.
