PPG culture is unrecognizable at this point

I’ve been with PPG for over a decade, and I honestly don't recognize the company anymore. It used to be a place where you could build a career and feel like your contributions mattered, but now it feels like we’re just numbers in a spreadsheet waiting to be deleted. The latest round of layoffs in PA is just another reminder that no one is safe. You can hit every target, work the extra hours, and be a top performer, but none of it matters when they decide to trim the budget. The constant uncertainty is exhausting. I’m tired of the town halls where they feed us empty platitudes while people are literally being walked out of the building. I’m actively looking for an exit plan because I refuse to be part of the next wave of 'efficiency.' Has anyone else reached this point of total burnout, or am I just jaded?

I’m right there with you. I’ve seen so many talented, long-term people pushed out over the last couple of years that the institutional knowledge is just bleeding out. It’s reached a point where morale is basically nonexistent because everyone is just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Management seems to have completely swapped their focus from employee development to chasing short-term quarterly metrics at any cost. It used to be a company people bragged about staying at for twenty years, but now it’s just another toxic grind.

I hear this frustration across almost every department lately. While it is tough to watch the culture shift, some of us are still trying to focus on the day-to-day operations and keep things moving despite the instability. It’s definitely not the same atmosphere it was ten years ago, but I’ve found that keeping my head down and focusing on my immediate team helps block out some of the corporate noise. Still, I agree that the lack of transparency regarding these cuts makes it incredibly hard to plan for the future.
