Anyone else caught up in the July 31st cuts?

I’m honestly still in shock. I logged in on the 31st expecting to clear out some emails, and by 10 AM, my access was completely revoked. Found out later that 54 of us got the axe. It’s hard not to take it personally when you’ve been hitting your metrics and carrying the team, only to get a generic separation email. The communication has been practically nonexistent, and the severance package isn’t exactly making me feel better about the 'financial stability' they keep preaching about in the town halls. Has anyone actually gotten a clear answer on why our specific units were targeted? Just trying to figure out if I should even bother reaching out to HR or if it's a total waste of time.

I am so sorry you had to go through that. It is absolutely brutal how they handle these layoffs, especially when you have been performing well and staying loyal. The hypocrisy of them preaching financial stability while cutting people loose with no warning is just infuriating. Please take some time to breathe and look after yourself—don't let their poor management choices make you doubt your own worth. You deserved much better than a generic email after all that hard work.

Look, it's a cold business, but that doesn't make it any less of a gut punch. Dealing with the sudden loss of access while still processing the news is incredibly jarring. Principal has been quietly shifting their priorities for a while now, and unfortunately, it feels like they view tenure as a liability rather than an asset. Don't waste energy waiting for them to provide closure or better communication; it’s never going to come. Update your resume, reach out to your network, and focus on moving forward to a place that actually values its people.
