Feeling the pressure after the July cuts

Is it just me, or has the workload become completely unmanageable since the July 31st reductions? We lost some key people in our unit, and instead of backfilling or adjusting our objectives, leadership is just expecting the remaining few to pick up the slack. I’m spending 10+ hours a day just trying to stay afloat, and for what? To be told we need to do 'more with less' while they talk about high-performance culture? It’s exhausting. I’m already polishing the resume because I don't see how this is sustainable long-term. If you’re still here, are you seeing the same thing, or did your team actually get some relief in terms of project scope? Feels like the burnout is going to lead to a mass exodus even without formal layoffs.

It is definitely not just you. The 'more with less' mantra has become the standard corporate excuse for poor planning and lack of investment in talent. I was in a similar position last year, and honestly, the burnout isn't worth the paycheck. When they stop valuing the human element and start treating teams like replaceable parts, it’s a clear signal that the culture has soured. Do not feel guilty about looking elsewhere; you have to prioritize your own mental health and career trajectory over a company that clearly isn't prioritizing you.

I hear you loud and clear. Watching talented colleagues get pushed out while the workload stays the same is infuriating. Leadership always loves to throw around buzzwords like 'high-performance culture,' but that is just code for squeezing every last bit of productivity out of the survivors until they break. You are being smart by updating your resume now. Don't wait for things to get better because, historically, they only add more tasks to the pile. Start networking quietly and get out before the stress starts affecting your health.
