Is Principal actively hiring or slowing down?

Been seeing a few roles posted on the careers site, but also notice some long-standing requisitions that haven't moved. It's making me wonder about the company's overall hiring strategy right now. Are they actively backfilling roles, or is it more of a selective hiring approach? I've heard from a few contacts that some teams are being asked to do more with less, which could be a sign of budget tightening, but others seem to be bringing on new people. It's a bit confusing to read the tea leaves. Anyone been through the interview process recently? How did it feel in terms of urgency and candidate volume? Or if you're on the hiring side, what's the internal guidance you're getting? Trying to understand if it's a good time to be looking for new opportunities within Principal, or if the market feels tighter than usual.

I've been keeping an eye on Principal's job board as well. It definitely feels like a mixed bag. While some positions seem to be getting filled, others have been lingering for quite some time, which is a bit perplexing. My sense is that they might be prioritizing certain departments or roles over others, rather than a broad hiring freeze or an aggressive recruitment drive. It's hard to say for sure without more internal insight, but the selective nature of the postings does suggest a strategic approach, perhaps driven by specific business needs or budget allocations.

From what I've gathered anecdotally, it seems like Principal's hiring might be project- or team-dependent. Some areas appear to be quite busy and are actively seeking to expand their headcount to meet demand, while others might be operating with leaner teams due to shifting priorities or resource optimization efforts. This could explain why you're seeing both open roles and those that seem to have been stalled for a while. It’s less about a company-wide strategy and more about localized needs within different business units.
