Principal leadership silence is deafening

It’s been a few days since the July 31st notice hit the WARN tracker, and yet we’re getting absolutely zero transparency from the top. Every time they talk about 'optimizing the operating model' or 'shifting resources,' I know it’s just corporate speak for someone’s livelihood being snatched away. The 54 folks impacted aren't just statistics; they were colleagues who helped build these systems. The culture here has shifted so dramatically in the last two years. It feels like we’re all just waiting for the next shoe to drop, constantly refreshing Slack to see if our managers’ status icons have gone grey. Has anyone heard if this is the end of the cuts for this quarter, or are they just pacing them out to avoid a bigger WARN filing? The anxiety in the office—and on the remote calls—is palpable. I’m tired of the 'we are a family' messaging when they can cut 54 people without a real explanation to the rest of us. It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder.

The lack of communication from leadership is honestly standard procedure at this point, but it never stops being demoralizing. When they hide behind vague corporate jargon like 'optimizing the operating model,' it shows they don't have the backbone to face the people who actually keep the lights on. It’s hard to feel any loyalty to a company that treats its own departments as disposable assets on a spreadsheet. Watching talented colleagues get tossed aside while management stays silent in their ivory towers confirms exactly how they view us. It is time to update the resume.

I have been here for over five years, and the atmosphere has soured significantly since the focus shifted entirely toward cost-cutting and layoffs. It used to feel like a place where your contributions were valued, but now it feels like every quarterly report is a death sentence for another small team. Management’s silence on these WARN notices is a slap in the face to everyone still working here, wondering if they are next on the list. We are not just headcounts, and we deserve some shred of honesty instead of these empty, robotic statements.
