For those of you who were unfortunately part of the July 31st reduction, what is the vibe with the severance? I’m seeing some chatter that it’s not as generous as it was back in the 2022 rounds. I know everyone’s situation is different depending on tenure and level, but I’m trying to gauge if the company is actually trying to help people land on their feet or if they’re just doing the bare minimum to minimize legal liability. I’m currently still employed here, but I’ve been applying elsewhere just in case. If you’re willing to share, were they offering any actual career coaching or just a lump sum? I’m genuinely worried about the direction this firm is taking. It feels like they’re prioritizing the stock price over the actual people who make this place function. Stay strong to everyone who was affected—the market is rough, but this place isn’t worth losing your mental health over.

It is definitely feeling like the bare minimum this time around. Comparing the package to what people received in 2022 is night and day. The company seems much more focused on protecting their bottom line than actually supporting long-term employees during this transition. I would suggest you keep pushing hard with those job applications, because the severance you get probably won't be enough to sustain you for as long as you might expect given the current state of the job market.

I was impacted by the cuts and honestly, the package was disappointing. It feels like they just calculated exactly what they needed to get a signed release and nothing more. There is no sense of loyalty or gratitude for the years of service many of us put in. If you are still there, take the warning seriously and continue networking externally. You shouldn't bank on them looking out for your well-being if your turn comes up, so secure your own future as soon as possible.
