Is the travel budget cut a sign of things to come?

Has anyone else noticed the recent crackdown on T&E expenses? I know we talk about fiscal discipline every quarter, but the recent emails about 'essential travel only' feel a bit heavier than usual. It’s starting to feel like the leadership team is trying to tighten the balance sheet as much as possible before the end of the year. I’ve been at Prologis for a few years and the atmosphere definitely feels different. Everyone is keeping their heads down, but the slack channels are getting suspiciously quiet. Is anyone hearing whispers about headcount reductions in the operational groups? I’m worried that if the market stays sluggish, we’re going to be the next ones in the crosshairs. Just trying to figure out if I’m being paranoid or if the writing is on the wall.

I’ve noticed the same thing lately. It’s definitely a shift from the past few years where travel felt like a standard part of the job. When leadership starts nickel-and-diming expenses like this, it usually signals that the quarterly targets are looking a bit lean or that there is internal pressure to inflate the bottom line for year-end reporting. It creates a weird tension in the office when you’re told to be agile but can’t even visit the sites necessary to get the work done properly. Just keep your head down and ride it out.

Honestly, I wouldn't overthink the T&E crackdown too much. Prologis has always been obsessed with fiscal discipline, and this is probably just a standard push to clean up the books before the fiscal year closes. Every time the market gets a bit choppy, management tightens the purse strings to maintain their margins. It’s annoying, sure, but it’s part of the corporate cycle here. Don't let the rumors on Slack get to you; just keep performing your core duties and let the higher-ups stress about the budget adjustments.
