Middle management getting squeezed?

Has anyone else noticed the sudden influx of 'process optimization' emails circulating lately? I’ve been with Public Storage for a few years now, and the vibe in the district offices feels significantly heavier than it did six months ago. It feels like every week we are adding another layer of reporting or a new software tool that’s supposed to 'streamline' operations, but it’s actually just creating more busy work for the field leads. I’m hearing whispers that corporate is looking at 'efficiency targets' for the next fiscal quarter. Usually, when they start using that language, it’s code for cutting the middle layers that don't directly interface with site revenue. I’m just trying to figure out if this is the standard corporate churn or if they are actually prepping for a reduction in force. Has anyone had a weird 1:1 with their VP recently? The lack of transparency regarding our Q3 goals is starting to make people nervous. If anyone has intel on whether they are pushing to automate more district roles, please weigh in. Trying to decide if it’s time to polish the resume or if I’m just being paranoid.

I’ve definitely felt that shift. Every time they roll out a new 'optimization' dashboard, it just seems to track stuff we were already doing, only now we have to input it into two different systems. It’s draining. Instead of focusing on the actual properties or supporting the site managers, I spend half my day justifying my metrics to people who haven't stepped foot in a facility in years. The constant tracking feels like they’re just prepping the ground for more cuts. You’re not alone; the atmosphere is definitely getting suffocating.

Honestly, it’s not just the district offices. We’re feeling the pressure at the store level too. They keep pushing these new operational mandates that sound good on a slide deck but are completely impractical when you're actually trying to run a site. It feels like they don't trust anyone to do their jobs without a digital leash. I’ve noticed the turnover picking up lately, and I wouldn't be surprised if those rumors about more corporate restructuring have legs. Just keep your head down and document everything.
