Twenty-seven people isn't a massive headcount reduction in the grand scheme of RTX, but it feels like death by a thousand cuts. You start looking around the meeting room and wondering who is going to be missing next Tuesday. The lack of transparency from leadership is the most frustrating part. They tell us we are critical to national defense and the backlog is stronger than ever, yet the headcount keeps shrinking. I’m starting to wonder if the rumors about 'restructuring' are just a polite way of saying they’re trimming the fat before the end of the fiscal year to make the margin percentages look better for investors. If you’re at a site that hasn't seen cuts yet, keep your resume updated. I’ve already started polishing mine tonight. It’s sad because I actually like the program I’m on, but the job security here is essentially non-existent at this point.

It’s draining to sit in meetings knowing that the company treats human beings like spreadsheet line items to satisfy quarterly projections. Don't let their lack of transparency force you into burnout. Focus on what you can control, network outside the company while you’re still employed, and realize that you owe your loyalty to yourself and your family, not to a corporation that views you as expendable.
