Heard some rumblings about 'resource actions' - anyone else?

Okay, so I'm on the engineering side, been here about 7 years, and the last few weeks have been... weird. My manager has been in back-to-back meetings, and there's this general air of tension in the department. I overheard snippets of conversations about 'resource actions' and 'realignment.' Anyone else hearing similar things? I'm not sure if it's just my team (we're underperforming a bit on our current project), or if it's something more widespread. Honestly, I'm starting to stress a bit. Trying to stay positive but hard not to think the worst. Specifically in the Missiles & Defense division but any RTX insights appreciated.

Yeah, I've been hearing similar things in my corner of the company. 'Resource actions' is usually code for layoffs. Seven years is a good run, but honestly, these big defense contractors can be fickle. I'd start quietly updating your resume and networking, just in case. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. Check your employee handbook for severance details too, so you know what to expect if the worst happens.

Underperforming projects? That's the kiss of death. 'Realignment' probably means they're going to restructure to cut costs and blame it on market conditions. It sucks, but it's pretty standard practice. I wouldn't panic yet, but I would definitely start polishing up that resume and discreetly reaching out to your network. See what else is out there before things get too crazy. They'll probably offer some voluntary packages first, so be on the lookout for those.
