Just saw the WARN notice drop for the California site. 97 people getting the boot effective late June. For those of us still hanging on in other states, it’s impossible not to wonder if this is the start of the next big wave. I’ve been hearing rumblings about budget tightening across the business units, but seeing the actual headcount reduction confirmed in writing makes the anxiety hit a lot harder. My manager is still giving the usual 'everything is fine' speech, but we all know how that goes. Is anyone else hearing rumors about more cuts coming down the pipe, or is this just an isolated adjustment for that specific facility? Trying to figure out if I should start polishing the resume this weekend or if I’m just overreacting to the news.

It’s the classic corporate playbook: management denies everything right up until the moment they hand out the pink slips. I’ve been through enough of these 'reorganizations' to know that once the WARN notices start hitting, the freeze is only the beginning. Don't listen to the empty reassurances from leadership; keep your resume polished and start networking immediately. If you’re waiting for them to be honest about the scope of these cuts, you’re going to be disappointed when the next round of notifications comes down the pipeline.

I've been tracking these developments across the different business units and the writing is clearly on the wall. The budget tightening isn't just a rumor—it's a calculated effort to trim the fat before the end of the fiscal year. While it’s natural to feel anxious, try to focus on your transferable skills and get your internal documentation in order. It's a tough environment right now, but staying ahead of the curve is your best defense against the uncertainty spreading through the rest of the company.
