Are we preparing for a round of restructuring?

It feels like something is brewing under the surface. I’ve been with Realty Income for a while now, and the atmosphere in the office lately is just… off. We’ve seen a lot of back-and-forth about office attendance policies tightening up, and now there’s a persistent rumor mill about a potential reshuffle in the property management and acquisitions side. Management keeps talking about 'synergies' and 'streamlining workflows,' which is the classic precursor to a layoff announcement. I’ve also noticed that a few of our ongoing vendor contracts are being scrutinized heavily, and some department heads look like they’ve been sleeping in their offices. It’s hard to stay focused on day-to-day tasks when you’re constantly checking if your folder access is still active. Has anyone heard anything concrete from HR or their VPs? I’d rather know now if we’re heading for a cliff than be blindsided by a 9:00 AM Friday Zoom invite.

That 'synergies' talk is definitely a red flag. I’ve survived three corporate restructurings in my career, and the script is always the same. When leadership starts hyper-focusing on office attendance and internal streamlining, they’re usually prepping the books for a headcount reduction to satisfy shareholders. Keep your resume polished and start quietly networking outside the firm just in case. It’s better to have a lead before the official announcement drops.

Honestly, I think everyone is reading too much into the office policy changes. Realty Income is a massive operation, and these cyclical rumors pop up every time the market gets a bit tight. They are likely just trying to consolidate teams after the recent acquisitions to ensure efficiency, not necessarily gutting the staff. Stay focused on your deliverables and try not to buy into the hallway gossip; anxiety doesn’t help anyone keep their job.
