Just saw the official filings go through for the 4700 Waters Ave location. 155 people total are out. It’s brutal. I know a few folks who were working there and they said the mood had been tense for months, but nobody expected a cut this deep. It’s hard not to look at these numbers and wonder if this is the new normal for Republic. They keep pushing the 'One Republic' branding, but it feels like the human element is being completely ignored for the sake of the bottom line. If you’re at another regional site, keep your eyes open. Management here is clearly looking to tighten the belt, and they aren't losing any sleep over it. Sending good vibes to everyone in GA dealing with this right now—it’s a rough spot to be in. Stay sharp and start networking immediately.

It’s absolutely gut-wrenching to see another massive layoff like this. I’ve worked for large corporations before, and that 'One Republic' messaging always feels hollow once the severance packages start getting handed out. My heart goes out to everyone in Savannah today; dealing with that kind of uncertainty for months is exhausting, and getting the boot right before the holidays or a major shift is just cruel. It’s becoming clear that the workforce is just a line item on a spreadsheet to these executives.

I’m honestly not surprised at all. Republic Services has been aggressively cutting costs and consolidating operations for a while now, and the folks on the ground are always the first to pay the price. They talk a big game about efficiency and branding, but it’s always at the expense of long-term employees who actually keep the facilities running. If you are still at a regional office, start polishing your resume now—history shows they rarely stop at just one round of cuts.
