Just saw the WARN notice for the Mississippi location. 35 people getting cut on April 15th. It’s always the same story—corporate promises efficiency and synergy, and then the actual boots on the ground get the axe while the executives pat themselves on the back for 'optimizing operations.' I have a few friends in that office and they said the morale has been subterranean for months. It feels like they’re just trimming headcount to juice the stock price before the next earnings call. If you’re in MS, keep your head on a swivel. Has anyone heard if they are planning to do this to other regional offices, or is this a one-off restructuring? The radio silence from management is deafening as usual.

It is honestly disgusting to watch. I have been with this company for years, and the culture has shifted from valuing employees to treating us like disposable assets on a spreadsheet. They talk about 'synergy' and 'optimization,' but it is just code for increasing shareholder dividends while the rest of us stress about our jobs. My heart goes out to the folks in Mississippi. If they can justify cutting 35 people there, none of us are truly safe in the long run. The internal morale is just nonexistent at this point.

Everyone keeps acting surprised when these announcements drop, but this is the standard playbook for Republic now. They stop investing in local operations, push ridiculous quotas on drivers and techs, and then look for any reason to slash headcount to make the quarterly numbers look better for Wall Street. The leadership team is completely disconnected from the people who actually keep the trucks running and the routes serviced. It is only a matter of time before the quality of service tanks because they are so focused on these ruthless cost-cutting measures.
