RS - What's the deal with the hiring freeze rumors?

Just heard through the grapevine that there's an unofficial hiring freeze going on at Republic Services. My department has had open reqs for months that are now apparently on indefinite hold. Is this true across the board? I'm trying to understand if this is a temporary pause or something more serious. We've always been a company that seemed to be expanding, so this feels like a significant shift. Anyone in HR or management care to shed some light? Or any anecdotal evidence from other departments? Trying to figure out if I should be updating my resume or if this is just a normal Q3/Q4 slowdown. It's hard to get a straight answer and the silence is making people nervous. Been with RS for a while, and this feels different than typical seasonal fluctuations. Usually, even with budget tightening, there's a clearer timeline or at least a heads-up. The indefinite hold on critical roles is making things tough, and frankly, a bit stressful. If management is looking to streamline or cut costs, transparency would go a long way.
