Savannah location hit - who's next?

Just saw the WARN notice for the Savannah facility on Waters Ave. 155 people gone overnight. It’s getting harder to ignore the pattern at Republic. Every time they talk about 'operational efficiency' or 'streamlining logistics' in the town halls, I feel like someone is looking at my desk and counting the cost. Does anyone have any insight on if this is just a regional realignment or if corporate is prepping for a wider Q4 reduction? I’ve been here for five years and used to feel like this was a 'safe' industry—you know, trash never stops being made, so jobs are safe. That feeling is completely gone now. If anyone from the affected site is reading this, I’m truly sorry. How are they handling the severance packages? Are they offering any internal transfers, or is it a clean break?

The corporate language about 'synergies' and 'streamlining' is just a polished way of saying your job is on the chopping block. Management loves to frame these cuts as regional realignments to keep people from panicking, but we all know the budget targets come from the top. If they hit 155 people in one go at Savannah, they’re clearly scrubbing the payroll to boost margins before the fiscal year ends. Don't wait for a town hall invite to update your resume; start looking for an exit strategy now because the next wave is almost certainly already planned.

I’ve been with the company for a while now, and honestly, the anxiety is starting to outweigh the benefits. It feels like the goalposts for 'operational efficiency' shift every quarter, making it impossible to feel secure regardless of how hard you work. I wouldn't bet on this being isolated to just one facility. When you see a reduction of that size, it’s usually part of a broader push to tighten up across the board for investor optics. Keep your head down, but keep your options open—it’s just business, not personal, which is the worst part.
