Severance package Q: How negotiable are they, really?

Hypothetically speaking, if layoffs were to happen, how much wiggle room is there in the severance package they offer? I've been here for 6+ years in a PM role. Is it worth trying to negotiate for more, or is it pretty much a take-it-or-leave-it situation? I've heard stories of people getting extra weeks or months, but those are usually from much smaller companies. Does anyone have firsthand experience with Roblox severance negotiations (or know someone who does)? Trying to prepare myself, just in case.

From what I've heard, Roblox's severance packages are fairly standardized, especially for PM roles. 6+ years should get you a decent base, but don't expect a huge bump. It's worth *trying* to negotiate, particularly if you have performance reviews that strongly exceed expectations. Focus on things like outplacement services or extended benefits instead of just cash. Document everything, and get any promises in writing.

Honestly, in my experience (not specifically Roblox, but big tech), severance packages are almost never negotiable *upwards*. The company has a formula, and they stick to it. The only time I've seen wiggle room is if there's a legal issue, like they're worried you might sue for wrongful termination. If you think that applies to you, consult a lawyer. Otherwise, focus your energy on networking and finding a new job instead of fighting a losing battle.
