Rockwell: Hiring freeze creeping into departments?

Is it just my group, or has the headcount approval process become a total black hole lately? I’ve seen three open reqs in our org suddenly vanish from the internal portal this week. Management is staying tight-lipped, but the usual 'business as usual' email from leadership felt hollower than ever. I’ve been hearing rumors that the Q4 targets are being squeezed hard to make up for the slump earlier this year. Does anyone know if this is a company-wide initiative to reduce operational costs, or are we just tightening belts ahead of a potential restructuring? Trying to figure out if I should start polishing the resume now while the market is still halfway decent, or if I’m just being paranoid. Any insight from the folks in Milwaukee or Mayfield would be appreciated.

I’m seeing the same thing over in my division. Three requisitions disappeared overnight without a word from HR or leadership. It’s definitely not just your group; the silence from the top is deafening. Whenever they start pulling job postings and hiding behind 'business as usual' memos, it’s usually a sign that they’re trying to balance the books before the fiscal year ends. Don't expect any straight answers until they've finalized the cuts and need to report the numbers to shareholders. Keep your resume polished and stay alert.

Look, it’s a standard move at this point in the quarter. They're clearly panicking about hitting those year-end targets, and headcount is always the first lever they pull to make the margin look better on paper. It’s frustrating, but it’s how they operate whenever growth slows down. Everyone is just guessing at this point because management rarely communicates honestly when things go south. Just keep your head down and focus on your core responsibilities for now, because trying to get real information out of middle management is a complete waste of energy.
