Stagnant bonus and zero communication, what gives?

Honestly, the lack of clarity regarding bonuses this cycle is the final straw for me. We keep getting these generic 'macroeconomic headwinds' emails, but they never actually address what that means for our individual compensation or retention. It’s impossible to plan for the future when every quarter feels like we are waiting for the other shoe to drop. People are talking quietly in the breakrooms, and nobody seems to have a real pulse on what the actual strategy is. If they are planning a layoff, I’d almost prefer they just rip the band-aid off so we can stop wasting time pretending everything is business as usual. The morale in my group is hitting an all-time low, and I’m seeing some of our best engineers quietly updating their LinkedIn profiles. Rockwell used to feel like a stable place to build a career, but right now, it feels like I’m just waiting for an automated 'access denied' email one morning. Anyone else seeing this sentiment in other divisions?

It’s honestly exhausting. The 'macroeconomic headwinds' line has become a tired trope for management to dodge any real accountability. We’re all putting in the work to hit these aggressive targets, but the reward structure is becoming increasingly opaque. When communication breaks down like this, it’s natural to start looking elsewhere. Loyalty is a two-way street, and right now, the company is making it very clear where their priorities lie. If you're feeling unsettled, you aren't alone; the sentiment across the floor is pretty much identical right now.

I’ve been with the company for a while now, and the shift in transparency is definitely noticeable. It used to feel like leadership was more in touch with the pulse of the workforce, but lately, it’s all become very corporate and detached. It’s hard to stay invested when your compensation is treated as a variable to be squeezed rather than a fixed commitment. If they don't start being honest about the actual outlook soon, they’re going to lose a lot of talent to competitors who are willing to value their teams properly.
