RPM International - What's the Deal with the Hiring Freeze?

Anyone else's department at RPM basically on a hiring freeze? We had a couple of roles open up a few months back, and they've been 'under review' forever. Now, my manager is being super cagey about any future openings, saying we need to 'do more with less.' Doesn't sound great, does it? This isn't just a couple of positions; it feels like a company-wide slowdown in bringing new people on. Makes me nervous about job security, even if there aren't official layoff announcements. It's the quiet way things happen that's unnerving. Is this a strategic move, or are they bracing for something bigger? Curious to hear if others are experiencing the same thing across different business units. Is it time to update the resume just in case?

Yeah, I'm seeing similar things. A few promising roles evaporated, and now there's just this vague talk about efficiency. It definitely creates an unsettling atmosphere. Makes you wonder what the long-term plan is if they're not bringing in fresh talent. Hopefully, it's just a temporary belt-tightening and not a sign of deeper issues. The lack of clear communication is definitely adding to the anxiety for many of us.

I've heard similar whispers across different divisions. It's more than just a few stalled requisitions; it feels like a deliberate pause on expanding headcount. While 'doing more with less' can sometimes lead to innovation, it often just means more pressure on existing staff. The silence on future hiring plans is deafening and, frankly, concerning for morale and future growth prospects. Time will tell, but the current vibe isn't exactly confidence-inspiring.
