Anyone else's team totally blindsided by this latest round?

The layoff on June 9th really came out of nowhere for my team. We've been hitting our numbers, morale was actually decent, and then boom, several people were gone by end of day. No warnings, no performance discussions, nothing. Management is being super tight-lipped about the reasons, just giving vague statements about 'restructuring' and 'strategic realignment'. It's hard not to feel like a disposable number when this happens. Has anyone heard any whispers about *why* these specific groups were targeted? Trying to understand if this was a broader company issue or if certain product areas/departments are being phased out.

Yeah, it's incredibly jarring when it feels like there's no rhyme or reason to it. My group wasn't directly hit, but the uncertainty and anxiety are palpable across the entire org. People are looking over their shoulders, and the trust in leadership definitely takes a hit. The lack of clear communication makes it even worse – makes you wonder if you're next, regardless of your contributions.

Totally blindsided is the right word. My team was performing well, we just closed a huge deal, and then suddenly a few key people were out. The 'restructuring' narrative feels hollow when you're seeing high performers disappear without explanation. It's demoralizing and makes it tough to stay motivated when your job security feels so precarious and based on opaque decisions.
