It finally happened. I was holding out hope after the news dropped on 8/7, but my calendar just got hit with a '1:1 Business Sync' with HR and my Director. I’ve been with the company for six years, survived the previous rounds, and thought I was safe because I was high-performing. Nope. None of that matters when they’re pivoting this hard to offshoring and AI-driven workflows. They didn't even have the decency to do it in person properly; it was a rushed Zoom call where they read a script and then cut access to the internal network while I was still on the line. To those still waiting: don't wait for the official email. If you have files or personal contacts you need, get them off your machine *now*. My Slack access was revoked before the call even ended. The severance package is standard, but the lack of transparency about the future of the SF office is insulting. We're being discarded for a cheaper headcount abroad while the execs keep talking about growth. Good luck to everyone currently in the hunger games—get out while you can and don't look back.

I am so sorry to hear that. Six years of high performance should count for something, but it is clear that leadership is prioritizing balance sheets over human capital right now. Take the rest of the week to step away from the keyboard and process this. The market is tough, but your tenure and skills will carry weight when you are ready to look elsewhere. Don't let the impersonal nature of the exit define your worth.

This is a brutal reality check for everyone left in the trenches. The 'Business Sync' invites are the worst-kept secret in the industry, and it sucks that it finally hit your team. When a company stops valuing long-term expertise in favor of aggressive restructuring, it is usually a sign that the culture you signed up for is gone. Dust off the resume, reach out to your network for referrals, and don't look back at a place that treated you like a disposable line item.
