RTO mandate feels like a slap in the face with recent layoffs...

So, they're pushing for mandatory RTO in October, right after another round of layoffs. It's a bit of a mind game, isn't it? On one hand, they say they need us back in the office to 'collaborate and innovate.' On the other, they're shedding people like it's going out of style. Feels like the people who are left are being told, 'You're essential... but also, we don't really need as many of you.' I get that companies want to justify their office leases and the idea of in-person synergy. But the timing is just brutal. It makes the whole 'we value you' message ring hollow. Anyone else feel like this is a poorly managed attempt to get butts in seats while also cutting costs? Wondering what the vibe is for those who are still here and have to navigate this. Are people already polishing resumes, or is the hope that this RTO will be less strict than advertised?
