The writing has been on the wall for a while now. It sucks to see it finally hit home for so many people. I’ve noticed the same pattern across other departments—they lean into the 'efficiency' buzzwords while slowly bleeding the talent out of the SF office. Don’t let them gaslight you with the restructuring narrative; this is purely a bottom-line play. Take your time to process this, document everything you can for your severance negotiations, and start looking elsewhere immediately. Your skills are worth more than a company that treats tenured employees like disposable line items.
I am so sorry you’re going through this. It is absolutely gut-wrenching to walk into a building you’ve dedicated years to only to have the rug pulled out from under you. Unfortunately, the writing has been on the wall since they started pivoting toward aggressive offshoring earlier this year. It feels personal, but it’s just cold, corporate math. Focus on your severance package and reach out to your network before the dust even settles. You have a lot of experience that will land you somewhere that actually values their staff instead of treating them like a quarterly expense.
