It’s happening again. Just got off a call with HR and my manager. Looks like the rumors about today’s reduction were true. They are framing it as a 'strategic realignment' to focus on cloud transformation, but it feels like the same old story. I’ve been with the company for over five years, and the atmosphere in the office—even remotely—has been incredibly heavy lately. We were told last year that we were safe if we were in the core R&D teams, but that clearly didn't matter today. Does anyone know if the severance packages are consistent with the previous rounds, or did they tighten the belt on those too? Trying to figure out my next move before the market gets flooded with more of us. This is exhausting.

The 'strategic realignment' language is corporate boilerplate used to soften the blow, but it doesn't make the reality any less devastating. Take a breath, prioritize your mental health today, and start pulling together your documentation. This company has become a revolving door for talent, and it is clearly their loss. You have the experience to land somewhere that actually values tenure.
