Is anyone actually surprised by the June 17 announcements?

I feel like I’ve been reading about 'SAP layoffs' on this board for three years straight now. Every time we think the restructuring is over, they announce another round. At what point do we stop calling this a strategic shift and admit that the culture is just gone? I’m seeing people with 10+ years of tenure getting cut in favor of offshore teams or 'AI-integrated workflows' that half the leadership doesn't even understand yet. I’m currently in a safe department, but the stress of waiting for the next calendar invite from a random VP is killing my productivity. Is anyone else looking to jump ship to smaller enterprise competitors, or are we all just staying put and hoping the attrition eventually stabilizes?

It’s not just you. The constant state of restructuring has turned the company into a revolving door of anxiety rather than a place to build a career. At this point, loyalty is punished while management cycles through buzzwords to justify trimming the headcount. The focus has shifted entirely away from the people who built these products to a race for short-term margin expansion. It’s exhausting watching long-term veterans get shown the door simply to appease market analysts who don't care about the long-term health of our internal expertise.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time. This latest round is just business as usual in a corporate environment that values spreadsheets over institutional knowledge. If you're still in a safe department, use the time to update your resume and start networking outside of the bubble. Everyone knows the drill by now—these strategic shifts are just a euphemism for stripping the workforce down to the bare minimum. You don't owe the company anything when they’ve clearly decided you’re just a line item they can delete.
