June 17th wave: Who actually survived this round?

Woke up to the calendar invites yesterday and it feels like the office just emptied out overnight. I’ve been with SAP for over five years, and this is the third restructuring I’ve seen, but the vibe this time is just different. It feels less like a 'strategic pivot' and more like they are stripping the engine out of the car while we’re still trying to drive it. My entire department in support saw a 20% reduction today. We’re being told that 'AI-driven efficiency' is going to bridge the gap for the remaining teams, but anyone who has worked on the legacy side knows that’s just code for 'we expect you to do two jobs for the same pay.' How are you guys handling the transition? Is there anyone left in the Cloud infrastructure group, or did they get hit as hard as the core ERP teams? I'm trying to figure out if it's time to start updating the resume immediately or if there's any stability left to cling to here. The communication from leadership has been characteristically vague, just generic emails about 'streamlining for the future.' Honestly, if this is the future, I’m not sure I want to be part of it.

I was spared this time, but the atmosphere in the office is absolutely toxic today. People are walking around like ghosts, and those who remain are already looking for the exit. Management keeps talking about 'restructuring for the future,' but it’s hard to see a future here when they keep gutting the teams that actually hold the product together. It feels like we are just waiting for our own names to be called in the next batch.

Seeing these numbers is just brutal. I left SAP a year ago during the last wave, and honestly, it was the best thing that ever happened to my career. Everyone currently inside is just trapped in a cycle of constant anxiety while the leadership keeps shifting the goalposts. Take this as your sign to update your resume and get out before you are caught in the next inevitable round. The company just isn't the same place it used to be.
