Just saw the news about another round of layoffs at SAP, around 3000 this time according to a few articles. It's always hard to see this happen, especially when it feels like it's happening more and more frequently. I'm trying to figure out what's actually going on internally. Are these targeted cuts in specific divisions, or a broader efficiency drive? Hearing rumors about cloud transformation projects taking priority, and maybe some older modules being de-emphasized. Anyone else in the thick of it have any insights? Trying to get a sense of the scale and the areas most affected. Just want to understand the direction things are heading. Makes you wonder about long-term stability, doesn't it?

It's definitely concerning to see these numbers. My take is that it's a mix of things. Cloud migration is a huge push, so roles supporting older on-premise solutions are likely being reduced as those teams are retrained or reallocated. Plus, SAP is always talking about streamlining operations to focus on innovation, so efficiency drives are probably a constant undercurrent. Hard to say without being on the inside, but the strategic shift to cloud is undeniable and probably the biggest factor.

The whispers about cloud transformation are loud, and I'm hearing similar things. It makes strategic sense for SAP to invest heavily in their cloud offerings and shed some of the legacy business to free up resources. This isn't entirely surprising given the market trends. It does raise questions about the long-term viability of certain skills within SAP, but it's also an opportunity for those affected to pivot to newer, in-demand areas. Hopefully, the company offers good support for those transitioning.
