Anyone else hearing whispers about Q3 headcounts?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at the office felt particularly heavy this week? I’ve been with Seagate for a few years now, and usually, I can tell when things are getting quiet, but this time it feels different. We’ve seen the competitors tightening their belts and cutting back on Opex, and I’m starting to wonder if we’re next in line for a 'restructuring.' My manager has been extremely vague about project budgets for the next two quarters, which is usually a red flag. I haven't seen any official memos or town hall warnings, but the lack of clarity regarding the roadmap is making everyone on my team nervous. Are we just waiting for the next earnings call to see the axe drop, or am I reading too much into the current hiring freeze? If anyone has heard anything from the higher-ups or seen any weird contract changes, let us know. Trying to figure out if I should start polishing the resume this weekend or if I'm just being paranoid.

The silence from leadership is definitely deafening lately. I've noticed the same pattern regarding budget freezes and vague answers during team meetings. It feels like everyone is holding their breath waiting for an announcement that nobody wants to hear. If you’re seeing the same signs, trust your gut. Given how the rest of the industry is playing it safe, it wouldn't be surprising if there’s a quiet consolidation coming down the pipeline. Keep your resume updated just in case.
